How I Discovered Izuna – part II

I was exploring the lush wilderness of Ethernity VII when I stopped beside a quiet stream, surrounded by flowers and ancient trees. Suddenly, the wind fell silent, and an unusual light began to shimmer among the branches. The world seemed to hold its breath.

Then, I saw her.

A beautiful woman stood before me, her long dark hair adorned with flowers, her simple garments flowing gently around her. There was something profoundly natural and timeless about her presence, as though she belonged to the very essence of the planet. I could not speak or move. Yet, looking into her eyes, I felt an extraordinary peace, a deep connection with every living thing, and a tenderness I had never experienced before.

I understood, without knowing how, that I was standing before Izuna.

She spoke no words and made no demands. Her presence alone seemed to remind me of something I had always known but never truly understood: that life was not merely something to study, classify or explain, but something to cherish and respect.

A moment later, the light faded, and she was gone. The wind returned, the stream resumed its gentle song, and the flowers swayed once more. Everything appeared unchanged, yet I knew that something within me had shifted forever.

I could not explain what I had witnessed. Perhaps my scientific mind would spend years searching for an answer. But deep inside, I carried a certainty that no instrument could measure. For the first time, I felt that the universe was not merely something to explore. It was something to listen to.

How I Discovered Izuna – part I

I had spent my entire life in my home system, never once travelling beyond its borders. I had devoted most of my time to studying planetary biology, and when I completed my studies, the time came to put what I had learned into practice.

I believe I first felt something while observing the planet Ethernity VII from the scientific vessel I had embarked upon. I cannot quite explain what made me feel so restless in that moment. After all, I did not really know what to expect.

Ethernity VII was a world of extraordinary beauty, a temperate planet where life seemed to flourish in every corner. Vast forests stretched across its continents, their canopies forming endless shades of green, interrupted by crystalline rivers that wound through valleys and descended in magnificent waterfalls. Wildflowers coloured the meadows, while unfamiliar creatures moved quietly among the vegetation, filling the air with their calls. Towering mountains rose beyond the horizon, their peaks veiled in wisps of cloud, and the sunlight scattered across lakes so clear that they reflected the sky like polished glass. There was something wonderfully harmonious about that world, something that made even the smallest details seem precious. Every leaf, every drop of water, every living creature appeared to have its own place in a greater design. As I watched the planet from orbit, I found myself wondering how such beauty could exist without asking anything in return. I had studied life for years, learning to classify it, measure it and understand its processes. Yet, looking down at Ethernity VII, I felt that knowledge alone could never be enough to explain the wonder of it all.

But the most exciting part was yet to come…

My Name Is Kazane

There are many ways to introduce oneself. Some people begin with their profession. Others with the place where they were born, the things they have achieved, or the people they belong to. I think I would rather begin with my name… my name is Kazane Hayashi.

I am a Jin-Mei, and I was born within the Gallente Federation. I have spent much of my life looking at the stars, although I have never been particularly interested in owning a piece of them. I have always been more interested in understanding what lies beyond the next horizon. I am not a wealthy woman, nor a particularly important one. I have no great title to carry and no ambition to become famous. I make my living through honest work, taking opportunities as they come and trying to remain grateful for the things that allow me to live the life I have chosen.

I like quiet places. I like old buildings, unfamiliar landscapes, the sound of rain against a window and the feeling of standing somewhere I have never been before. I like listening to people. Everyone has a story, even if they do not consider it worth telling. Perhaps that is one of the reasons I have always found the universe so fascinating. It is full of stories that are much larger than any one of us. Civilizations rise and disappear. Worlds change. People meet, love, fight, leave and begin again. And yet, beneath all of that, there is something remarkably simple. We are all here. Looking up at the same stars.

There is one other thing that has become an important part of my life. Her name is Izuna. I do not expect everyone to understand what that means to me, and I do not think understanding should ever be demanded. For me, Izuna is a presence I feel in nature, in life, in the quiet moments when the universe seems less distant. She reminds me to observe rather than possess, to listen rather than impose, and to appreciate beauty wherever I find it.

There will be time to speak about her properly.
For now, this is enough.
This is me.
My name is Kazane Hayashi.
And this is where my story begins.
